Virginia Police Arrest Undocumented Immigrant in 'Brutal' Stabbing Death, Reigniting Immigration Policy Debate
Fairfax County police have arrested Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos, 19, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, in connection with the brutal stabbing death of 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch in Great Falls, Virginia. Cedillos-Campos and Puch were coworkers and reportedly had an intimate relationship. Police Chief Kevin Davis described the victim as suffering numerous stab wounds and being doused in gasoline. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Cedillos-Campos arming himself with a knife and gloves before the incident. He was arrested in Maryland and has confessed to the killing, awaiting extradition to Virginia. Cedillos-Campos was previously apprehended by Customs and Border Protection in 2024 after illegally crossing the border near El Paso, Texas. This high-profile case has intensified the national discussion surrounding U.S. immigration policies and border enforcement.
