Man Impersonates Pilot to Travel the World at Discounted Rates
Dallas Pokornik, a former flight attendant from Canada, was inspired by the film 'Catch Me If You Can' to impersonate a pilot and travel at reduced rates. Between 2020 and 2024, Pokornik used a fake pilot's license to fly with significant discounts, sometimes even securing a seat in the cockpit. His scheme was uncovered when an airline employee noticed irregularities in his documents, leading to his arrest in Panama and extradition to the United States. Pokornik faces trial in Hawaii, with potential penalties including up to 20 years in prison and a substantial fine.
