Ghislaine Maxwell's Rejected Appeal Could Lead to New Testimony in Epstein Case, Potentially Impacting Ex-Prince Andrew
Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of the late convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein, recently had her petition to overturn her conviction rejected by a federal judge. District Judge Paul Engelmayer described her claims, which cited constitutional rights violations during her trial, as "meritless." Following this rejection, there are reports that Maxwell may now provide new testimony. This potential testimony could include details about Epstein and his associates, notably ex-Prince Andrew. Popular podcaster Ed Opperman suggests Maxwell might take this step after her legal challenge failed. Royal biographer Nigel Cawthorne also believes that Maxwell cooperating could create significant problems for ex-Prince Andrew, who has been linked to the Epstein files and defended his friendship with Epstein in a 2019 interview. Maxwell was convicted on five felony charges related to her involvement with Epstein and is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
