Senator Tim Kaine Criticizes Trump Administration's Boat Strikes as Murder
Senator Tim Kaine has accused the Trump administration of committing murder through its military strikes against vessels suspected of drug trafficking. Since the campaign's inception in September 2025, at least 221 people have been killed. Kaine, after reviewing classified notifications sent to Congress, claims that the U.S. is targeting individuals beyond those identified as legitimate military targets by the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel. He emphasized that these individuals are 'murder victims' and pointed to a Drug Enforcement Administration analysis indicating that the strikes have not impacted the flow of illegal drugs into the U.S. Kaine has urged President Trump to reassess the campaign, highlighting its high costs, questionable legality, and lack of progress towards its objectives. Despite these concerns, the administration appears committed to the strategy, with the U.S. Southern Command announcing a new task force to combat international drug cartels.
