She emphasized that many West Michiganders are struggling with premium increases of up to 200%, leading some to forgo insurance entirely. This event is part of Protect Our Care’s 'Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now' campaign, which is holding events across several states to draw attention to the impact of Republican health care cuts.

Colorado Files Lawsuit Alleging White House Retaliation Over Tina Peters Case, Citing 'Smoking Gun' Email

Colorado has filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging an "unconstitutional scheme to attack and punish the state." New exhibits in the case, Colorado vs. Trump, include an email described by Colorado's lawyers as a "smoking gun." This email, sent on December 15, 2025, by White House staffer Emily Underwood, requested leaders from the federal departments of Energy, Education, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Interior to attend a "Brainstorm Call" the following day. The email explicitly stated, "Please come prepared to discuss immediate actions that your department or agency can take with respect to Colorado. Please do not forward this invitation or include others on the call without discussing with me first." This communication occurred around the same time President Trump publicly criticized Governor Jared Polis for not releasing former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters. Colorado Seeks Federal Aid After Wildfires and Flooding Cause Devastation

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has formally requested a major disaster declaration from President Donald Trump and FEMA following two of the state's most destructive wildfires, the Aspen Acres and Gold Mountain Fires. These fires have burned over 140,000 acres, destroyed 324 homes, and caused significant infrastructure damage in Pueblo, Custer, and Ouray counties. Heavy rainfall over burn scars in July and August triggered severe flooding and debris flows, including a deadly flood on August 16 in Pueblo County. The state is seeking federal assistance for individual and public aid, as well as hazard mitigation funding to address the extensive damage and support recovery efforts. The total estimated losses in Custer and Pueblo counties alone exceed $500 million. The request is currently awaiting a decision from the White House.
