FDA Expands White Rice Recall Across 13 States Due to Foreign Material Contamination
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded a recall of white jasmine rice from Lundberg Family Farms, initially announced in April. The updated notice now affects over 27,000 two-pound bags of the product, a significant increase from the initial 4,500 cases. The recall is due to concerns about potential foreign material contamination. The affected rice was sold in 13 states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Consumers can identify the recalled product by UPC 073416-040281, with specific Lot Numbers 260201MA (Best Before February 1, 2027) and 260202MA (Best Before February 2, 2027). Lundberg Family Farms stated that the affected product was removed from store shelves months ago, the incident was isolated to a single production run, and no illnesses have been reported from its consumption.
