Southwest Airlines Flight Experiences Runway Mishap in Chicago, Prompting Investigation
A Southwest Airlines flight originating from Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers encountered a runway mishap upon landing at Chicago Midway Airport. The incident occurred early on the morning of August 3, 2026, when the aircraft lost air pressure in both of its nose gear tires during landing. This prompted an investigation by Southwest Airlines. Mechanics were able to change the tires and tow the plane to its designated gate. The flight, which took off around 5 a.m., arrived at its destination approximately 43 minutes later than scheduled, landing at 7:43 a.m. Despite the incident, operations at Southwest Florida International Airport were not affected, and there was no immediate response from Chicago Midway Airport regarding any operational impacts.
