Extreme Heat Warnings Persist Across California
California is experiencing a prolonged October heat wave, with Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories issued across much of the state. Temperatures are forecast to remain significantly above average, with highs reaching up to 43°C (110°F) in Death Valley and 41°C (106°F) in inland Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Overnight lows are also unusually warm, limiting relief from the heat. The National Weather Service attributes the conditions to strong high pressure and anomalously high mid-level heights over the western United States. Alerts are expected to remain in effect through October 7 or 8, with cooling anticipated later in the week.
