Eugene and Springfield School Districts Implement Extensive Summer Facility Upgrades
School districts in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon, have completed numerous facility improvements over the summer, focusing on enhancing learning environments and student safety. In Bethel, Danebo Elementary received air conditioning in classrooms, offices, and the library, along with initial construction for a new gym and classroom addition, part of a $14 million project funded by a 2020 bond. Irving Elementary also gained air conditioning and a renovated life skills classroom. Meadow View School saw the addition of two renovated classrooms for students with disabilities, accessible bathrooms, and a fenced playground. Eugene 4J district invested approximately $30 million in bond and capital project funds, installing air conditioning in several elementary and middle schools, updating playground equipment, and renovating Swede Johnson Stadium. Springfield Public Schools renovated Thurston High School's greenhouse, upgraded security systems, and performed various maintenance tasks.
