Nolan Wells' Family and Attorney Ben Crump Renew Call for Federal Investigation into Death
The family of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, alongside civil rights attorney Ben Crump, is intensifying their demand for an independent federal investigation into Wells' death. Wells disappeared during a July 4 gathering on Horn Island, part of Gulf Islands National Seashore, and his body was found two days later. His friends, who returned to the mainland without him, stated he chose to stay behind, a claim disputed by his family. A Jackson County grand jury, after issuing 132 subpoenas and hearing from 43 witnesses, unanimously returned a 'no true bill,' finding no credible evidence of criminal conduct related to Wells' death.
