Ford Motor Company Recalls 148,663 Mustangs Due to Wiring Issue
Ford Motor Company is recalling 148,663 Mustang vehicles from the 2024 to 2026 model years due to a significant wiring connection issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall notice, stating that the engine compartment wiring harness ground connections in these vehicles may break. This defect could lead to a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the wiring issue could disrupt the functionality of other critical systems, including the windshield washing system, headlights, air conditioning, or the engine cooling fan. Owners of the affected Mustangs were expected to receive notification letters by August 31st. A remedy for the issue is anticipated to be available around March 2027, at which point additional letters will be mailed to owners. Ford or Lincoln dealers will replace the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals free of charge.
