Former Postal Worker Indicted for Allegedly Disposing of Hundreds of Mail Ballots in Utah

A former U.S. Postal Service (USPS) worker, Damon Matai Seei, 34, of Payson, Utah, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of unlawful secretion, destruction, and delay of mail. The indictment, unsealed today, alleges that Seei unlawfully disposed of mail he was entrusted to deliver, including approximately 300 mail-in ballots intended for registered voters in Utah. According to court documents, on June 3, 2026, Seei, while working as a letter carrier, allegedly threw away some of the mail, including the ballots for a June 23, 2026, primary election, into a dumpster in a church parking lot in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Seei was arrested and made his initial court appearance. Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter emphasized the seriousness of allegedly discarding ballots, stating it undermines election integrity.
