Family Seeks Justice and Legislative Change After Fatal Wrong-Way Crash in Hawthorne
A grieving family in Hawthorne, California, is speaking out after 38-year-old Myeisha Darlene Pierson, a mother of two, was killed in a wrong-way crash on the 405 Freeway. The incident occurred early on July 21 when a driver, who police suspect was under the influence, collided with Pierson's car. Pierson's sister, Quiyona Bridges, and mother, Geneva Lawton, expressed their profound loss, emphasizing that Pierson's potential was tragically cut short. Pierson had just dropped off her brother, Dashawn Henderson, from his first day at a new job when the crash happened. Henderson, who was in the passenger seat, is currently recovering from severe injuries, including a fractured hip, ruptured spleen, and burns. The family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses for Pierson and medical costs for Henderson. They are also advocating for legislative changes to prevent similar tragedies caused by impaired driving.
