U.S. Strategic Partnerships with India Expand Beyond Traditional Security, Raising Regional Concerns
The strategic partnership between the United States and India has significantly broadened, moving beyond conventional security cooperation into areas such as technology, trade, maritime security, and regional diplomacy. A key multilateral dimension of this evolving relationship is the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad), which includes India, the United States, Japan, and Australia. The Quad, initially revived at the officials' level in 2017 and elevated to leaders' level in 2021, publicly aims to support a free, open, prosperous, and resilient Indo-Pacific. Its agenda now encompasses health security, climate change, critical technologies, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and maritime domain awareness.
