Texas Democrats Urge National Party to Increase Investment in Gubernatorial Race
Six U.S. House members from Texas, including Representatives Sylvia Garcia and Veronica Escobar, have joined dozens of other Democratic leaders in urging the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) to invest an additional $10 million in the Texas gubernatorial race. They argue that Democrat Gina Hinojosa, despite being significantly outspent, is polling within a few percentage points of incumbent Governor Greg Abbott. The letter, addressed to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, who leads the DGA, emphasizes the potential for a historic upset and warns against repeating past mistakes of underinvesting in Latino candidates and voters. The DGA has reportedly spent at least $10 million on gubernatorial races in Virginia, New Jersey, and Arizona, leading Texas Democrats to request similar support for their state.
