Food Influencer Keith Lee Provides Aid to Gary, Indiana, Amidst Two-Week Power Outage
Widely popular food influencer and philanthropist Keith Lee partnered with the Salvation Army and the city of Gary, Indiana, to provide large-scale relief efforts. This initiative comes after severe storms on August 11, including winds up to 100 mph and a derecho, left thousands of Gary residents without power for two weeks. Lee, a Detroit native residing in Texas, shifted his plans for a food tour and festival upon learning about the crisis in the historically underprivileged community. On Monday, he helped volunteers distribute 2,000 relief kits containing cleaning supplies, N95 masks, and trash bags, along with 1,000 sandwiches, chips, and drinks. Lee personally donated around $15,000, with Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton contributing an additional $15,000. The funds also supported numerous food trucks offering free meals at a festival-like event at Roosevelt High School.
