Gilbert Parents Cleared of Charges in Case of Toddler Found Alive in Morgue
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has decided not to file child abuse charges against Angelo and Alexus Fiordilino, the parents of an 18-month-old boy who was mistakenly pronounced dead and later found breathing in a hospital morgue. The incident occurred after the toddler nearly drowned and was declared dead by an ER physician at Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. Despite early warnings from staff and the boy's mother, the doctor dismissed concerns that the child was still alive. The family is now preparing a lawsuit against the hospital and the attending physician.
