Germany's Defense Minister Advocates for Submarine Deal with Canada
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius made a direct appeal to Canada at the CANSEC defense exhibition, promoting the sale of TKMS' Type 212CD submarines as part of Canada's Canadian Patrol Submarine Project. This contract, valued at up to C$60 billion, is one of Canada's largest defense procurement decisions. Pistorius emphasized the economic and strategic benefits of choosing the German-Norwegian bid, which includes significant GDP impact and job creation. The bid faces competition from South Korea's Hanwha Ocean, which has also made a strong pitch for its submarines.
