Pentagon Identifies Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, and Unitree as Supporting Chinese Military
The Pentagon has expanded its list of entities it claims support the Chinese military, now including Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, and Unitree. This list, known as the 1260H list, is part of the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act. The inclusion of these companies could complicate business relations between U.S. companies and these Chinese entities, potentially escalating tensions between the U.S. and China. The list, which now includes 188 companies, aims to restrict Chinese tech influence, with previous additions like Tencent. The update was initially published in February but was temporarily withdrawn for unspecified reasons. The list also features other major Chinese AI and automotive industry players, such as Nio and RoboSense.
