Hackensack Meridian Health and Georgian Court University Partner to Expand Student Psychiatric Care Access
Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) and Georgian Court University (GCU) have established a psychiatric care collaborative to enhance mental health support for students. This partnership, formalized at Ocean University Medical Center, aims to expand student access to psychiatric services and strengthen on-campus mental health resources. The collaboration addresses the increasing demand for mental health services on college campuses, driven by post-pandemic stressors and rising rates of anxiety and depression among young adults. Data indicates that over 75% of college students report moderate to severe psychological distress. Through this agreement, students receiving services from the GCU counseling center can be referred for psychiatric care, reducing barriers related to access, insurance coverage, and privacy.
