US Military Launches Operation to Secure Strait of Hormuz, Sinks Iranian Boats
The United States military has initiated Operation Project Freedom to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for global oil and gas shipments. President Trump announced the operation, which involved sinking six Iranian small boats and intercepting Iranian missiles and drones. The operation aims to reopen the strait, which Iran had effectively closed, disrupting international energy supplies. US Admiral Brad Cooper stated that the operation includes a comprehensive defensive arrangement involving ships, helicopters, aircraft, and electronic warfare. Despite Iranian claims to the contrary, the US has successfully cleared a pathway through the strait and encouraged commercial vessels to resume passage.
