USDA Reports Corn and Soybean Quality Ratings for 2026 Season
The USDA has released its latest crop progress report for the 2026 season, which includes the first quality ratings for corn and soybeans. Corn planting has reached 93% completion as of May 31, slightly below the average trade estimate of 94%. Corn emergence stands at 76%, matching last year’s pace and slightly ahead of the five-year average. Quality ratings for corn show 67% in good-to-excellent condition, 28% rated fair, and 5% rated poor or very poor. Soybean planting is at 87%, ahead of both last year’s 83% and the five-year average of 80%. Soybean emergence has reached 65%, with 66% of the crop rated good-to-excellent. The report also includes updates on other crops, such as winter wheat, which is 87% headed and 5% harvested, with Oklahoma and Texas leading the harvest progress.
