Georgia State Patrol Trooper Involved in Fatal DeKalb County Crash Responding to Stunt Driving

A 19-year-old passenger, Anthony Angeles, died early Monday after a Georgia State Patrol vehicle collided with a pickup truck in metro Atlanta. The incident occurred at Mountain Industrial Boulevard and Hugh Howell Road as troopers were responding to reports of illegal stunt driving in multiple areas. A Crime Suppression Unit K9 trooper, driving through the intersection, struck a GMC pickup truck that had been observed performing stunts minutes earlier. Both vehicles caught fire, but the trooper and his K9 managed to escape through a window and pulled individuals from the burning pickup. The 20-year-old driver of the pickup, Emilio DeJesus of Conyers, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Georgia State Patrol has placed the involved trooper on administrative leave.
