Lexington Grassroots Group 'Moms Outside' Joins Gun Violence Prevention Efforts
A new grassroots organization named 'Moms Outside' has emerged in Lexington, Kentucky, aiming to contribute to local gun violence prevention efforts. Founded by Anonimuss Rose, a Lexington mother, the group is recruiting volunteers to conduct neighborhood rounds in parks and other frequently used areas where young people gather. These rounds are planned from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The initiative was spurred by the tragic shooting death of Rose's 16-year-old cousin, Di’zion Robinson, in August. Rose emphasizes that 'Moms Outside' does not intend to replace law enforcement or elected officials but rather to act as concerned mothers who care about community safety. This new group joins existing city-led programs like One Lexington, which focuses on reducing youth and young adult gun violence.
