New York City Revives 34th Street Busway Project to Improve Transit
New York City has announced the revival of the 34th Street busway project, which was previously halted due to concerns from President Trump's administration. The project, led by Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the city's Department of Transportation, aims to transform a section of 34th Street into a dedicated busway to improve bus speeds and reliability. The busway will cover over a mile from Third to Ninth Avenues, dedicating lanes for buses, trucks, and emergency vehicles. The initiative is expected to increase bus speeds by up to 15% and includes pedestrian improvements.
