UK and Pakistan Collaborate to Enhance Geological Survey Capabilities
The United Kingdom and Pakistan have initiated a partnership aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP). This collaboration focuses on training in digital geological surveying, geochemical sampling, airborne geophysics, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The initiative seeks to establish a comprehensive digital survey process, covering fieldwork, laboratory analysis, GIS interpretation, and final geological mapping. The British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott, emphasized the importance of trustworthy data and modern methods to unlock Pakistan's geological potential. The partnership aims to equip GSP with the necessary tools and skills to independently conduct national surveys that meet global standards, thereby attracting responsible investment and fostering economic growth.
