Moorhead Housing Advocate Empowers Homeless Youth Through Voter Registration and Self-Sufficiency Programs
Tyler Schroeder, a housing advocate with Lakes and Prairies Community Action Partnership (CAPLP) in Moorhead, is actively working to empower homeless youth aged 18 to 24. Beyond assisting them with housing, community resources, and self-sufficiency skills, Schroeder is dedicated to helping these young individuals register to vote. He believes that enabling them to participate in elections ensures their voices are heard and that their issues, despite experiencing poverty, are recognized as important within the community. Schroeder's efforts were recently acknowledged with a MoorHeart award from the Moorhead City Council, an honor given to individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional community commitment. His coworker, Jessica Jungroth, nominated him, highlighting his consistent advocacy for vulnerable youth.
