ICC Bangladesh Urges India to Expedite CEPA to Enhance Trade Relations
The International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICC Bangladesh) recently held a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, to discuss the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and other trade-related issues. The meeting, which took place at the ICC Bangladesh Secretariat, focused on strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and regional economic cooperation. ICC Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman emphasized the importance of concluding the CEPA to reduce the trade gap between the two countries. The bilateral merchandise trade between Bangladesh and India reached approximately $11.39 billion in the fiscal year 2024-25, with Bangladesh exporting $1.76 billion worth of goods to India and importing $9.62 billion. The discussions also covered topics such as improving market access for Bangladeshi products, reducing non-tariff barriers, and enhancing regional cooperation through SAARC and BIMSTEC.
