Pilot Dies in Small Plane Crash Near Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville
A small, single-engine plane crashed on Monday morning near the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Florida, resulting in the death of the pilot. The incident occurred shortly after the pilot departed from the airport, reporting engine troubles and attempting to return to the runway. The aircraft subsequently crashed into trees and powerlines before catching fire upon impact with the ground. Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash. The pilot was the sole occupant of the plane, and authorities have not yet released their identity due to the nature of the crash. Columbia Boulevard (State Road 405), between Sisson Road and Washington Avenue, has been closed in both directions to facilitate the investigation, with closures potentially extending into Tuesday.
