Major Airlines Suspend Middle East Flights Amid Iran Conflict, Affecting Travel Routes
Several major global airlines, including Air France, KLM, Lufthansa Group, British Airways, and Finnair, have suspended or delayed flights to Gulf destinations such as Dubai, Riyadh, and Dammam. This decision comes in response to the escalating conflict involving Iran, which has led to increased safety concerns over flying through certain airspaces. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has advised airlines to avoid the airspace of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE, as well as the Gulf of Oman. In this context, Singapore Airlines is launching a new service from Western Sydney International Airport, offering an alternative route to Europe that bypasses the Middle East.
