Rain and Cooler Temperatures Return to the Bay Area
The Bay Area is experiencing a significant shift in weather as a surge of cold marine air moves onshore, bringing an end to the recent warm spell. Over the weekend, temperatures soared into the 70s and 80s, which was 15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. However, by Monday, the weather has changed dramatically with the collapse of the high-pressure ridge that had been driving the warmth. This has allowed the marine layer to push back inland, resulting in cooler temperatures and increased cloud cover, particularly along the coast. Areas such as Pacifica and Half Moon Bay are expected to remain mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, accompanied by a west wind at 10 to 20 mph. There is also a possibility of drizzle, especially around Daly City.
