Agriculture Secretary Rollins Signs Disaster Declaration to Aid Pennsylvania Farmers Affected by April Freeze
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, alongside U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, held a roundtable discussion with local farmers in Scott Township, Pennsylvania, to address the impact of a severe freeze that occurred in April. The freeze, which took place between April 19 and April 21, caused significant crop losses across 17 counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. In response, Rollins signed a Secretarial Disaster Declaration, enabling affected farms to access low-interest emergency loans and additional USDA disaster relief resources. This declaration aims to help farmers manage ongoing operational costs and mitigate losses. The counties covered include Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, and York. Farmers have until January 26 to apply for these emergency loans.
