Bay Area Students Recognized in NPR's Teen Podcasting Contest
NPR recently held a podcasting contest for students across the United States to commemorate America's 250th anniversary. The contest invited students from fourth grade to high school to create podcasts reflecting on their experiences as citizens. Out of over 700 entries, seven winners and 30 honorable mentions were selected, including one winner and six honorable mentions from the Bay Area. The winning podcast by Violet Maxinoski from Carmel High School delves into her mother's experiences during the Iraq war, emphasizing themes of liberty and choice. Other notable entries include podcasts on environmental responsibility, the rise of flag football among girls, and personal cultural heritage stories.
