US Navy's MH-60R Seahawk Helicopter Achieves Modernization Milestone
The MH-60R Seahawk, a multi-mission naval helicopter developed by Sikorsky Aircraft, has reached a significant milestone with the US Navy taking delivery of its 350th unit in January 2026. Known as 'Romeo', the MH-60R is designed to replace the legacy SH-60B and SH-60F helicopters. It integrates advanced mission systems and sensors developed by Lockheed Martin, including a digital, open-architecture cockpit compatible with night vision. The helicopter's primary roles include anti-submarine and surface warfare, electromagnetic warfare, and command and control, with secondary duties in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and more. The US Navy plans to modernize the MH-60R to keep it operationally relevant through 2045 and beyond.
