Springfield Memorial Hospital has been awarded a Level 4 Epilepsy Center accreditation by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), valid from 2026 to 2028. This designation highlights the hospital's capability to provide advanced testing and a comprehensive range of treatments for individuals with drug-resistant or difficult-to-manage seizures. The epilepsy care team, in collaboration with SIU Medicine, comprises specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology, and other trained professionals. The hospital offers a variety of services, including epilepsy and seizure diagnosis, imaging, intracranial EEG, and management of withdrawal from epilepsy medications. The accreditation process involved a rigorous evaluation of personnel, technology, safety protocols, and patient outcomes.
