Five Individuals, Including Three Houston Postal Carriers, Charged in Alleged $23 Million Stolen Check Scheme
Five individuals, including three U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail carriers from Houston, have been federally charged in an alleged scheme involving the theft and sale of checks totaling over $23 million. The indictment, filed on August 19 in the Southern District of Texas, accuses Tryston Tremaine Vaughn, Catherine Clauzelle Kilpatrick, Drakkor Jamar Alexander, Malcolm Tiree Joubert, and Alyssa Nadine Bryant of participating in the conspiracy. Federal prosecutors state that the defendants and their co-conspirators acquired and sold approximately $23,973,338.15 in stolen checks over nearly six years. Vaughn is alleged to have recruited the postal carriers—Kilpatrick, Alexander, and Joubert—to steal checks from their mail routes.
