Pentagon Plans to Increase U.S. Military Forces by 44,500 Troops in 2027
The Pentagon has announced plans to expand the U.S. military by adding 44,500 active duty troops and reservists in the upcoming fiscal year. This expansion is part of a broader $1.5 trillion budget proposal that includes investments in weapons, research, and infrastructure improvements. The Army aims to increase its force to 469,000 soldiers, which includes 15,000 additional active soldiers and 3,300 National Guardsmen. The Air Force plans to add 11,700 airmen and guardians, while the Navy seeks to recruit 12,000 active duty sailors and 1,400 Marines. This move follows a significant upswing in military recruiting, with the services exceeding their goals after implementing new recruiting strategies and incentives.
