Maryland Dredging Operations Impact Fishing Activities in Ocean City Inlet
Dredging operations have commenced at the Ocean City Inlet in Maryland, scheduled to continue until the end of the month. This activity is expected to impact marine activities, particularly for anglers and mariners. The dredging coincides with the White Marlin Open, a significant fishing event, potentially affecting participants. In the Atlantic Ocean and Coastal Bays, anglers are reporting successful catches of various fish species, including kingfish, spot, northern puffers, flounder, large bluefish, sandbar sharks, and large red drum. In the Upper Chesapeake Bay, striped bass and catfish are being caught using paddletails, soft plastic jigs, and cut bait. Additionally, illegal importation of fish from Mexico has been investigated, with fish seized as evidence.
