Severe Storms to Impact Plains and Mississippi Valley Throughout the Week
The central United States is bracing for multiple days of severe thunderstorms this week, with significant risks of damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding. According to AccuWeather, the storms will affect areas from northeastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle to the Dakotas and parts of Canada, including Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Severe weather is expected to shift eastward as the week progresses, impacting Minnesota, Kansas, and Colorado. The storms are fueled by Gulf moisture and a dip in the jet stream, creating conditions for heavy rainfall and localized flooding. AccuWeather's Local StormMax™ predicts wind gusts up to 90 mph on Tuesday, with a moderate risk of severe weather in parts of North and South Dakota on Wednesday. Flash flooding risks will expand eastward later in the week, affecting Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
