Israel's Bio-Convergence Program Attracts Global Attention with Major Investments
Israel has invested nearly one billion shekels in its national bio-convergence program over the past three years, according to a report from the Israel Innovation Authority. This initiative aims to position Israel at the forefront of a rapidly expanding global field by integrating biology, engineering, and artificial intelligence to develop innovative solutions in healthcare, food production, energy, and advanced manufacturing. The program has seen a significant increase in private sector involvement and investment in research infrastructure, with nearly 200 companies now operating in this space, doubling the number from five years ago. The program's head, Shai Melcer, emphasized the efficiency and economic viability of these new biological solutions. Israel's approach has garnered international attention, with organizations like the World Economic Forum and OECD adopting elements of its strategy.
