IDF Acknowledges Full Disarmament of Hezbollah Unfeasible Without Invasion
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has acknowledged that fully disarming Hezbollah in Lebanon is not feasible without a full-scale invasion of the country. This admission comes as the IDF continues its operations in southern Lebanon, aiming to weaken Hezbollah's capabilities. The IDF's current strategy involves taking control of territory up to 10 kilometers from the Israeli border, which is expected to reduce Hezbollah's ability to launch anti-tank missiles into Israel. The IDF has also reported that 1,000 Hezbollah members have been killed since the renewed conflict began. Despite the challenges, the IDF remains committed to its long-term goal of disarming Hezbollah, as stated by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir. Defense Minister Israel Katz reiterated that disarming Hezbollah is a top military priority, emphasizing the importance of security for northern Israeli communities.
