Israel's Ma'ale Gilboa Achieves Record Grape Harvest with Agrivoltaic Farming
In a groundbreaking agricultural achievement, farmers at Kibbutz Ma'ale Gilboa in Israel have harvested 30 tons of grapes using an innovative agrivoltaic system. This system combines solar energy production with agriculture, allowing crops to grow beneath solar panels. The panels provide shade, protecting the vines from extreme heat while generating renewable energy. This dual-purpose use of land not only maximizes resource efficiency but also sets a new record for agrivoltaic farming in Israel. The project, involving local farmers, students, and renewable energy company Doral, demonstrates the potential of integrating renewable energy with traditional farming practices.
