Pakistani National Indicted for Allegedly Defrauding United States Postal Service of $126 Million Through Counterfeit Postage Scheme
A Pakistani national has been charged with defrauding the United States Postal Service (USPS) of approximately $126 million. The individual is accused of operating an unauthorized website that sold over five million counterfeit U.S. postage labels. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, the labels were sold at a fixed rate, typically $2 each, regardless of the package's size, weight, or destination, allowing customers to ship items at rates significantly below legitimate USPS prices. The investigation revealed that more than 5,200 individuals used the website to purchase these counterfeit shipping labels.
