Historic Lawyers Row in Clinton, Louisiana, Continues to Function Alongside East Feliciana Parish Courthouse
Lawyers Row, a collection of five Greek Revival buildings constructed between 1840 and 1865, stands across Woodville Road from the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse in Clinton, Louisiana. These historic law offices remain in active use today. The East Feliciana Parish Courthouse, built in 1840, is recognized as the oldest continuously functioning courthouse in Louisiana. Both Lawyers Row and the courthouse are significant historical landmarks, having been placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and 1973, respectively. The courthouse, a peripteral Greek Revival structure, is distinguished by 16 Doric columns. The area is further beautified by live oak trees surrounding the courthouse lawn and crape myrtle trees that line Lawyers Row, which bloom in fuchsia.
