President Trump Delays AI Security Executive Order Over Language Concerns
President Trump has postponed the signing of an executive order intended to allow the government to evaluate artificial intelligence (AI) models before their release. The order was designed to task the Office of the National Cyber Director and other agencies with developing a process to assess AI models for security vulnerabilities. This move comes in response to concerns about AI models like Anthropic’s Mythos and OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 Cyber, which have the potential to exploit security weaknesses. President Trump expressed dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the order, fearing it could hinder the U.S.'s leadership in AI development. Additionally, the lack of attendance by major tech CEOs at the signing event contributed to the delay.
