Nebraska Postal Worker Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $46,000 in Sports Cards
A U.S. Postal Service employee in Lincoln, Nebraska, Trenton Bogenreif, 31, has been arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more. He is accused of stealing a package containing six high-value football and basketball cards, collectively worth nearly $46,000. The Lincoln Police Department initiated an investigation after the intended recipient reported not receiving the package. Authorities believe Bogenreif discovered the cards in an open box within a post office facility and took them. One of the stolen cards was later found listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Plainclothes officers arranged a purchase of two cards from Bogenreif at WarHorse Casino, where he was subsequently taken into custody. The two cards involved in the transaction were confiscated, but the other four cards have not yet been recovered, with officers suspecting they may have been sold or traded at a card show in the Omaha area.
