John Wayne Airport Passenger Arrested After Breaching Gate and Stealing Airfield Vehicles
A passenger at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, was arrested on Tuesday evening after allegedly breaching a gate, gaining access to the airfield, and attempting to steal multiple vehicles. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. when Skylar J. Barr, 26, from Everett, Washington, a Delta Airlines passenger booked on a flight to Seattle, breached Gate 12. Once on the tarmac, Barr allegedly stole an Alaska Airlines tug, a vehicle used to haul luggage. He then crashed the tug into another vehicle near Gate 7. Following the crash, Barr attempted to steal an American Airlines lavatory truck but was apprehended by Airport Police Services. Barr was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation before being booked into Orange County jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, vandalism, and trespassing, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
