Former Pembroke Park Town Manager Charged with Felony for Secret Recordings
David Lynch, the former town manager of Pembroke Park, Florida, has been charged with a felony following an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The charges stem from allegations that Lynch secretly recorded private conversations involving senior town officials, including the town attorney and police chief, without their knowledge. A recording device was reportedly found attached to Lynch's office telephone after his termination. Lynch's departure from his position followed a Local 10 News investigation that revealed he had approved over $64,000 in taxpayer-funded payroll advances to a commissioner without town commission approval. Lynch was suspended and later terminated due to financial management concerns. The charge of interception and disclosure of wire, oral, or electronic communications is a third-degree felony, carrying a potential penalty of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
