A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow is affecting much of Minnesota on Thursday morning, according to MPR News. The precipitation is expected to continue throughout the day, transitioning to sleet, rain, and snow by Thursday night. Freezing rain is anticipated to persist through midmorning in certain areas, while central Minnesota will experience sleet and snow. Northern Minnesota will see mostly snow, with southern regions shifting back to rain. The precipitation is expected to conclude overnight. The North Shore is under a winter storm warning due to heavy snowfall expected Thursday into Thursday night. Ice accumulation is primarily occurring outside the Twin Cities, with most roads remaining wet in southern Minnesota, while central and northern areas have partial snow coverage.
