Ayurveda Day Shifts to Fixed Date, Emphasizing Holistic Health and Global Awareness
Ayurveda Day, an observance dedicated to the ancient Indian system of life science, has transitioned to a fixed date of September 23rd, aligning with the autumnal equinox. This change, effective from 2025, aims to increase the event's global visibility and participation. Previously, Ayurveda Day was associated with Dhanwantari Jayanti. The new date symbolizes balance, a core principle of Ayurveda, as the day and night are approximately equal in duration during the equinox. The 11th Ayurveda Day is being observed with the theme "Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow," focusing on strengthening traditional healthcare practices in India and promoting their global relevance. This shift is intended to make it easier for international institutions and individuals to engage with and celebrate Ayurveda, moving away from its dependence on traditional Indian festival calendars.
